Thirty years at sea, thirty years in emergency care. Amanda is a registered nurse, former paramedic and rescue and retrieval nurse who has been the medical response in the places where there wasn't another one — the outback with the flying doctors, refugee camps, offshore on oil rigs, and on the deck of a racing yacht a long way from help.
She has been the medic on the Sydney Hobart, the Fastnet and the Rolex 600, and has worked with Ocean Race, America's Cup and J Class teams. She teaches maritime medicine because she has practised it — which is why crew remember what she taught them.
